Insurance Benefits

Short-time work compensation

In the event of temporary work stoppages, unemployment insurance covers a portion of wage costs. This allows employers to avoid layoffs.

Bad weather compensation

In certain industries, you are eligible for compensation for weather-related work stoppages.

Mass layoffs and business closures

If you need to lay off a large number of employees within 30 days, you are required to report this. The Office of Employment will advise you on the process and your obligations.
