General Information

The national registry of the Swiss Association for Cardiac and Thoracic Vascular Surgery (SGHC) was restructured after a short disruption. Participation in the registry is not mandatory at the moment, as the analyses of the quality programmes are developed on the basis of existing routine data. However, in the years of 2024 and 2025, register data on a case basis was matched with routine data. As a result of this, quality indicators were able to be further developed. Whether further register matching makes sense and is necessary will be jointly evaluated with the SGHC.

To achieve a more detailed quality analysis, it was mandated per 1. January 2024 that for interventions for the service group HER1 – HER1.1.3 the primary and secondary surgeons must be registered. A scientific evaluation of the method is planned for 2027. The quality indicators and analyses, as well as the risk adjustments are developed with an expert group.

Expert Group

The expert group is compiled annually at every quality circle. Currently, it is composed as follows:

• Dr. med. Rudolf M. Moos (Hirslanden)

• Dr. med. Vasileios Ntinopoulos (Allianz Herzchirurgie Zürich, USZ & Triemli)

• Prof. Dr. med. Alberto C. Weber (HerzZentrum, Hirslanden)

The SGHC is also involved and incorporated as much as possible.
