Do you employ staff in the Canton of Zurich? Then you must register with various insurance providers and pay premiums. We’ll walk you through the most important steps.

The Most Important Points at a Glance

  • You must register your business with the SVA Zurich (Center of Excellence for Social Insurance in the Canton of Zurich).
  • The SVA Zurich administers Old Age and Survivors’ Insurance (AHV), Disability Insurance (IV), Income Replacement Benefits (EO), and Unemployment Insurance (ALV).
  • It also handles maternity benefits, benefits for the other parent, family allowances, and the family equalization fund.
  • If an employee earns more than 22,680 Swiss francs per year, you need a pension fund (BVG).
  • You must take out occupational accident insurance (UVG) for every employee.
  • Depending on the industry, additional optional insurance policies may be advisable.

You must register your company with the SVA Zurich (Center of Excellence for Social Insurance in the Canton of Zurich) or another compensation office.

Register your business with the SVA Zurich.

Depending on your industry, you may also choose a private association compensation fund. These offer industry-specific expertise, consulting, and digital payroll solutions.
  

If an employee earns more than 22,680 francs per year, they are required to be insured with a registered pension fund (BVG).

  • Daily sickness benefit insurance: Covers continued salary payments in the event of a prolonged illness.
  • Business liability insurance: Covers costs for damages that you or your employees cause to others.
  • Cyber insurance: Protects your business from losses resulting from cybercrime.
  • Group Daily Sickness Benefit Insurance: Provides employers with financial protection to continue paying wages in the event of illness and offers policyholders premium discounts on supplemental insurance.
