Gainful employment with protection status S

The Federal Council has decided to grant refugees from Ukraine «S» protection status in Switzerland. Persons with protection status «S» need a permit to take up gainful employment. 

Employment

An application to this effect must be submitted by the employer to the cantonal labour market authority (in the canton of deployment).

The following admission requirements apply:

Advantages:

• The application has to be submitted by the employer.
• The salary and working conditions customary in the place and sector are complied with and correspond to the qualifications and job profile.

The following documents have to be submitted:

Advantages:

• Copy of the foreigner's identity card (identity card «S»)
• Copy of passport
• Mutually signed employment contract
• Application form

Self-employment

It is also possible to obtain a permit for self-employment. 

The following admission requirements apply:

Advantages:

• The necessary financial and operational requirements are met.
• A sufficient, independent livelihood is available.

Persons with protection status S who wish to take up self-employment should submit their application by e-mail to ab@vd.zh.ch. The application should provide information on the intended activity and the financial and operational resources available for it.

The following documents have to be submitted as well:
