What is it about?
The transparency principle applicable in the Canton of Zurich is intended to make the activities of the official authorities and offices understandable and transparent to outsiders. To reach that goal, it commits these government agencies to providing information of general interest to the public of their own accord, thus pursuing an active information policy. On the other hand, every person is entitled to access information available at a government agency as a matter of principle. As a consequence, the government agencies are obliged to answer such requests.
